Job Summary: As a QMED Oiler, you will play a crucial role in supporting the engine department of our vessel. You will be responsible for maintaining, lubricating, and assisting with the repair and operation of shipboard machinery and equipment. Your dedication to the safe and efficient operation of our vessels will contribute to our continued success and commitment to marine excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lubrication and Maintenance: Perform routine lubrication and maintenance tasks on shipboard machinery and equipment, including engines, pumps, compressors, and other mechanical systems.

  • Assist with Repairs: Assist the engineering team in repairing and overhauling engines, generators, and related machinery.

  • Inventory Control: Maintain an inventory of lubricants, spare parts, and supplies necessary for the proper functioning of machinery.

  • Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work, including equipment conditions, actions taken, and materials used.

  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel and compliance with maritime regulations.

  • Watchkeeping: Stand engine room watch as required, monitoring machinery and equipment for anomalies and responding promptly to alarms or issues.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the engine department and collaborate with the engineering team to ensure the vessel's machinery operates efficiently and effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Valid U.S. Coast Guard QMED endorsement.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Basic knowledge of engine room machinery and equipment.

  • Understanding of lubrication principles and maintenance practices.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to work well in a marine environment and adapt to varying work schedules.

  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy equipment and perform manual labor.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a QMED Oiler on OSV vessel.

  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems and repairs.
